A compound key consisting of typeface name, symbol set id, object type, vertical and horizontal resolution, and starting character number is followed by the character range, font file name, character offset, byte offset, baseline, polarity, byte order, type (0=untyped) , status (0=unused (uninstalled), 1 =ok, 2=missing, 3=alias), and source (0=from .cfg, 2=from dialog). See Ini File Rules(B- - 1).

Symbol set ID specifies the unique symbol set ID(8- 4).

object type(4- 2): Chars(D- - 2) types are ideographic fonts(4- 13), which are accessed in the word processor by dictionaries. All other types are alphabetic font(4- 13), and are mapped to the keyboard keys according to a corresponding keyboard definition(4- 6).

Starting character number is the first code in the code space(D- - 2) in this file. When symbol sets are split into different levels(D- - 5) and font files, code and chars define the code space, and thereby the level. Character range is the number of characters.

Font file name is the font file name (e.g. 16h0ch00.fnt), optionally including full drive and path name. Character offset is the location of the first character in the font file in characters. Byte offset is the number of bytes to add to make the font align correctly. Baseline is the number of rows in a character that descend below the baseline. Polarity compensates for fonts in which foreground pixels(D- - 6) are represented by 0s instead of 1s, as used by some Windows bitmap fonts. Byte order defines the bitmap as horizontal or vertical.

Scw.ini Typeface Substitutes Section

The Scw.ini Typeface Substitutes section specifies the version 2.9 style font family names that are used in compatible documents, and their current version 3.0 equivalent typefaces(4- 11). You can add additional items to the list

[Typeface Substitutes]
Combined=CombinedMing,1,
CombinedRads=Trad214Rads,1,
ScSerif=CombinedMing,1,
SimpleComb=SimpCombMing,1,
Plain-JIS=PlainJIS,1,
Fancy-JIS=FancyJIS,1,
ChiJIS=GuoBiao,1,

A version 2.9 family name key is followed by the Version 3.0 typeface name and an action code to specify whether the substitution should be made without asking, or not. See Ini File Rules(B- - 1).

Scw.ini User Characters Section

The Scw.ini User Characters section specifies the installed workstation user symbol set(D- - 7), and the number of times to wait before automatically invoking the Create User Font(3- 45) command.

[User Characters]
Do Not Ask Times=8
Group Symbol Set=0
Typeface=CombinedMing
Typeface Letter=m
Symbol Set ID=18255

The Group Symbol Set ID is a number assigned by Apropos Customer Service to users with large numbers of licenses or symbol set ID conflicts.
